The Drink is celebrating all things apples and fall at our 3rd Annual Gala Gala Hey! Apple Festival this Sunday, Oct. 26th. Timed this year to coincide with NYC Cider Week, we’re not only pouring ciders from all over the state, region, and the world, we’re serving apple pie, bobbing for apples (and whiskey!), hosting live Americana music, and topping the night with square dancing.

We’ve got some awesome bands playing, including the Kings County Ramblers, Deadhorse Bay, and Sean Walsh of the National Reserve. The amazing Don Coy (just look at this pic! old man in a white hat/white/pants/red shirt/bolo tie combo is killer) is calling squares from 8:30 – 10, but be sure to show up earlier in the day to sign up, as space for dancers is limited. Bob for apples while you wait, and wash down your fruit with our signature whiskey chaser at the trough.
We’re partnering with Gowanus pie shop Four & Twenty Blackbirds to give you four kinds of apple pie (salted caramel apple, sweet potato apple crumble, apple pear rose & black currant apple), and pairing cider with cheeses from Saxelby Cheese (a highlight: Slyboro raw sheep’s milk cheese from Consider Bardwell Farm with Slyboro Ciderhouse’s Hidden Star sparkling hard cider, which was used to wash the rind of the Slyboro cheese, plus Liberty apples, which was used to make the cider).

And in addition to serving cider on tap and in pours from the bottle, we’ll also be doing cider flights, like our Hopped Cider flight featuring Doc’s Dry Hopped Hard Cider, Harvest Moon’s Heritage Hops Hard Cider, and Naked Flock’s Citra Hopped Cider). Our list of cidermakers we’ll serving on Sunday, and throughout cider week, include Aaron Burr (NY), Slyboro (NY), Orchard Hill (NY), Eve’s Cidery (NY), Docs (NY), Sovereign (NY), Naked Flock (NY), Harvest Moon (NY), Harpoon (VT), Castanon (Spain), Enlightenment Wines (NY), Aspall (England), JK Scrumpy (MI), Crispin (CA).

Clearly, we love cider, and we’re excited to show the breadth of styles and flavors in craft cider, both on Sunday and throughout the week. We’ll be continuing our on tap and by the glass/bottle list until next Friday, Oct. 31st.
