When: Sunday, March 22

We are very excited to host this special screening of the 1920s German silent horror classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Not only will be watching a restored print of this Expressionist classic, we’ll be treated to a live score by gypsy jazz musician Alex Simon and his band.

We’ll be squeezing in as many seats as possible, but encourage everyone to arrive early in order to get a good spot.

Dinner by our friends at Burma Noodle Bar. Menu preview:

  • Samosas
  • Onion fritters
  • Curry beef croquettes
  • Tea leaf salad: Fermented Burmese green tea, crispy beans, nuts, and garlic, fresh cabbage and tomato.
  • Mohinga: spicy catfish chowder, rice noodles, split pea crisps, hard boiled egg, cilantro, lime

Alex Simon has performed at The Guggenheim, The NYC Marathon, as well as world-renowned cocktail lounges Milk & Honey, The Pegu Club, Bathtub Gin, Nomad, Hotel Delmano, The Norwood, Radegast, Vin Sur Vingt, Fada, Fete Paradiso, Cubana Social, Brooklyn Winery, The Jalopy Theater, St. Mazie, Cadaques, etc. Inspired by the legendary Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, Simon imbues dazzling technique and lyrical, impressionistic expression with a twenty-first century sensibility reminiscent of modern day guitar master Marc Ribot, with whom he has studied and performed.
