Slate.com: “Martini Madness”

A couple weeks ago, a little birdie told us that the owners of a New York bar called The Drink were among the millions of thirsty minds swept up by Martini Madness. On Twitter, the saloon’s management asked, “Seriously can we just sit around and argue about martinis all day?” Disinclined to regard the question as merely rhetorical, I made an appointment to sit around and argue about martinis with The Drink’s mom-and-pop owners. In a barroom decorated to suit the tastes of a vintage drunken sailor, I heard the tale of their mixed-martini marriage.

The New York Times: “A Drink For October (That Isn’t Pumpkin Ale!)”

At The Drink, a charming Williamsburg bar, Allison Zempel, a bartender and manager, has created the Trade Winds — a balanced, pumpkin-laced punch that’s a little sweet, a little sour, a little tangy and livened up with a good kick of spice.

I know you seen me on the video (true).

At least now, anyway. Our friends at The Fader stopped by for a quick lesson in one of Adam’s favorite frozen treats that they just happened to get on film. Eater NY: “The 12 Best Places to Share Big Ass Drinks With Friends”

Summer in New York is a special thing: it means being constantly sweaty, sticking to the seats on the subway, and praying for central air. There are a few places around town helping with the quest to stay cool and make the heat enjoyable. These bars are serving up crisply cold booze in bowls, carafes, pitchers, and pineapples, making sharing easy and cheap. The Drink

This East Williamsburg watering hole specializes in punches and drinks for sharing. From the salvaged wood and fishing paraphernalia that lines the room, to the potent punches and simple coastal cuisine, this place could easily be perched on a dock somewhere in New England, but thankfully for us, it is right here in Williamsburg.

Brooklynoraphy: Chris Littler (on his favorite spots in Brooklyn)

Last month, Brooklynography trooped in with a sweet man named Chris Littler to film Chris talking about how much he loves our bar. The final result is part 1 of a new video series documenting Brooklyn by way of individuals and their environments; in this case, a gorgeous video of Chris talking about all his favorite spots in Williamsburg (we’re the final spot on their trip). We’re honored to be included and to be in such great company — Nitehawk Cinema, Blue Bottle Coffee Co., Main Drag Music, Urban Rustic & Ugly Luggage — some of our favorite BK spots, as well.

Thank you, Chris & Brooklynography!

Gothamist: Where To Drink Outside Tonight (Or, Screw It, TODAY)

It was ridiculously nice out yesterday, and today has been even sweeter thus far, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s. We’ve already begged to have class blog outdoors—but alas, we’ll just have to wait till the end of the day to take advantage of this spring surprise. Thankfully, there are plenty of bars that will be serving drinks outdoors this evening—and below, we’ve compiled a list of some we especially like.

You can also choose between the margaritas at waterfront Mexican restaurant Alma (which opens at 5:30 p.m.), or the punch at Williamsburg mainstay The Drink.
